REACH MS began its early childhood PBIS initiative with its 2016-2021 round of funding. The goal of this initiative is to provide PBIS supports and training to pre-k programs across the state. REACH MS began an Early Childhood PBIS State Leadership Team (SLT) in February 2017 that represents early childhood professionals and agencies throughout the state. This team meets bi-monthly, providing input and feedback on statewide early childhood PBIS implementation. The Pyramid Model has been chosen as the primary source of training and coaching as it aligns well with K-12 PBIS practices. The first early childhood cohort was in the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years, consisting of one school district and one early learning collaborative (state-funded pre-k). These pre-k programs received technical assistance and training during the two year span. The second early childhood cohort will provide support to additional school districts and early learning collaboratives for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. REACH MS also provides early childhood PBIS regional training, hosts a monthly online Community of Practice meeting, and fulfills limited requested supports at no cost to interested school district, early learning collaborative, Head Start, child care, and other pre-k and kindergarten programs.
