Early Childhood Tier 1: Relationships and Supportive Environments

This one-day training provides participants with information on positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) for pre-k classrooms and programs using the Pyramid Model as the foundation for the training. The session begins with background information on challenging behaviors which then sets the stage for the main content of the training – building relationships and high quality pre-k classroom best practices. Some of the areas of best practice included in the training are classroom arrangement, classroom design, learning centers, schedules, transitions, large and small groups, and giving directions. The session ends with guidance on developing expectations and rules for classrooms/programs. Attendees will review case studies and participate in hands-on activities to “practice” learned content. Opportunities will be provided to reflect on one’s own practices. No prerequisites are required for this training.
